Raipur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) recently revealed its selection of candidates for the Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. This initial list includes 21 nominees, out of which five are women. Interestingly the list also includes Vijay Baghel, who’s a Member of Parliament from Patan and also happens to be the nephew of the Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel.
When asked about the BJPs decision Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel appeared unconcerned. Responded by saying, “I have been informed that BJP has announced a list of 21 candidates for the assembly polls.” He further highlighted that while BJP has historically contested all seats, their success rate has been limited in securing around 90 seats in elections.
In order to strengthen its presence in Chhattisgarh, BJP has nominated candidates such as Bhulan Singh Marawi from Premnagar Ramvichar Netam from Ramanujganj (SC category). Mahesh Sahu from Kharsia. Noteworthy additions from the Scheduled Castes (SC) category include Praboj Bhinj representing Lindra and Harishchandra Rathia for Dharamjagarh. Other important candidates are Lakhanlal Devangan from Korba and Pranav Kumar Marpachchi, standing for Marwahi (SC).
Furthermore, the BJPs lineup also includes Indra Kumar Sahu, from Abhanpur Rohit Sahu, contesting in Rajim and Shravan Markam for Sihawa (SC). There are a few nominees, such as Devlal Halwa Thakur, Vikrant Singh, and Asharam Netam, who have also garnered attention for constituencies.
Adding to the list are candidates like Laxmi Rajwade for Bhatgaon, Sarla Kosaria representing Saraipali (SC), Alka Chandrakar from Khallari Shakuntala Singh Porthe for Pratappur (SC) and Geeta Ghasi Sahu as the selected candidate, for Khujji.
