Chhattisgarh CM Baghel on Lemru Sanctuary Area: “Forest Dwellers Won’t Be Displaced”

Raipur: Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, while addressing a public meeting at Korba Clock Tower ground, declared that the tribal communities dwelling around the Lemru Elephant Reserve are not going to be displaced.

Besides, he asserted that the tribal communities residing there can carry on collecting the minor forest produces for their everyday necessities, and that they will keep receiving the forest land first certificate.

During the public meeting, which was also attended by School Education Minister Dr. Premasai Singh, Korba MP JyotsanaMahant, Assembly Speaker Dr. Charan Das Mahant, the Chief Minister showed an admirable gesture by announcing Barpaliand Ajgarbahar as ‘Tehsils’ (administrative divisions) on the demand of the majority, besides declaring the foundation of a sports academy at the Indira Stadium situated in Korba City.

Baghel also announced that the Korba Medical College is going to be named after the late Congress MLA Bisahu Das Mahant.

The CM sanctioned Rs. 10 crores for the development of Ashok Vatika Udyan as the ‘oxyzone’ of Korba City. Besides, he performed a number of Bhoomi Pujan ceremonies, distribution of commodities, and inauguration programs in Korba. 

During the public meeting, Baghel said – “With the permission given by the Central government to deposit rice in FCI, now paddy can be purchased in the state at support price without any disturbance”. Notably, a total of Rs. 4,500 crores have already been credited to the registered bank accounts of the farmers through 3 installments. The 4th installment will be credited to the accounts by the end of this financial year.
