Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh cordially invites the revered Buddhist spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama to pay a visit to our state. Satish Jaggi, the Chairman of Sirpur Special Area Development Authority, traveled to Dharamshala to personally meet with the Dalai Lama and convey the invitation on behalf of the Chief Minister. As a gesture of respect and hospitality, Satish Jaggi presented the Dalai Lama with a traditional state gamchha and a memento representing the rich culture of Chhattisgarh.
During their meeting in Dharamshala, Satish Jaggi discussed the Chief Minister’s vision to develop the Buddhist heritage site of Sirpur and establish it as a World Heritage Site. He expressed the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting the historical and cultural significance of Sirpur. Furthermore, Satish Jaggi informed the Dalai Lama about the upcoming World Buddhist Meeting scheduled to take place in Sirpur, Gurugram from 6th to 9th September 2023, and extended a special invitation for his esteemed presence at the event.
The Chief Minister pays homage to His Holiness’ exceptional spiritual acumen and remarkable dedication in championing peace, compassion, and disseminating Buddhist doctrines across international boundaries. Bhupesh Baghel’s proactive efforts to foster a strong connection with the Dalai Lama and invite him to Chhattisgarh demonstrate the state’s commitment to preserving its rich Buddhist heritage and establishing itself as a global center for Buddhist discourse and exchange.
