Raipur: On the commemoration of Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary, designated ‘Sadbhavna Diwas’, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel electronically transferred a sum of Rs 2055.60 crore to beneficiaries under various welfare schemes. The substantial disbursement included the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana (RGKNY) among others.
Sonia Gandhi, the veteran Congress leader, lauded CM Baghel through a video broadcast for echoing the late Prime Minister’s vision and elevating the living standards of diverse societal segments. Such actions, she remarked, stood as a fitting tribute to Rajiv Gandhi.
Elucidating the disbursements, the state’s report revealed that Rs 1,810 crore formed the second tranche of RGKNY. Additionally, Rs 168.63 crore was allocated under the Rajiv Gandhi Bhumihin Krishi Majdoor Nyay Yojana (RGBKMNY), Rs 66.21 crore towards Rajiv Yuva Mitan Clubs, Rs 9.65 crore benefited the Godhan Nyay Yojana recipients, and Rs 1.11 crore was set aside for the Mukhmantri Parab Samman Nidhi Yojana.
During the event, CM Baghel emphasized that the timely financial aid during the harvest season significantly benefited the farmers. He said, “We marked former PM Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary by disbursing about Rs 2055 crore across diverse schemes.”
Sonia Gandhi underscored the importance of agricultural prosperity for battling poverty, praising the Chhattisgarh government’s initiatives that have enhanced the economic well-being of countless farmers. She observed, “The state has illuminated hope and joy in many households. Besides subsidies under RGKNY, several strategic decisions uplifted Chhattisgarh’s farmers, setting a benchmark for other states.”
In closing, she noted the state’s strategies yielded a surge in agricultural output and farmers’ income, while the RGBKMNY scheme notably supported agrarian workers.
