Raipur: Chhattisgarh on Friday witnessed another spike in coronavirus cases with 2,637 additions, taking the aggregate in the state to 1,18,790.
On Friday, Chhattisgarh crossed another grim milestone, the state recorded over 1,000 deaths. In the last 24 hours, 5 deaths were reported, taking the total toll to 1002.
There are 29,693 active cases whereas the 2,586 recovered on Friday took the total recovered people to 88,095, the department said in the bulletin.
The recovery rate of Chhattisgarh stands at 74 percent whereas overall India recovery rate stood at 83,84%
The worst-hit Raipur district reported 395 new cases, Durg 362, Raigarh 218, Janjgir-Champa 200, Korba 179 and Bilaspur 158.
“Of the latest fatalities, five died on Friday while 11 deaths had taken place earlier,” the official said. The state recorded over 83,000 cases in the last one month.
With 34,582 cases so far, Raipur district tops the tally in the state. The district has witnessed 437 COVID-19 deaths so far.
As many as 15,743 tests were conducted on Sunday taking the cumulative total to 11,37,384, the department said.
