Raipur: The excitement is tangible in Chhattisgarh as discussions heat up about who will become the Chief Minister. Different names are circulating in circles. The ultimate decision will be made during the BJP legislator meeting on Sunday. On Saturday evening three observers are expected to arrive in Raipur for this purpose. Arjun Munda, who is responsible for affairs in the government has been chosen by the Bharatiya Janata Party to oversee Chhattisgarh. Munda previously served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, holds the distinction of being the person to assume that position at just 35 years old in 2003.
His political journey began in the 1980s when he joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and actively participated in advocating for a state for tribal communities in southern regions of Bihar during the Jharkhand movement. In the 2009 elections Munda was elected from Jamshedpur constituency, for the Lok Sabha. Known as a leader he played a role in strengthening BJPs presence in his home state.
Another notable contender vying for Chief Minister is Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam.
Sonowal who has also held the position of Minister of Ports, Shipping, Waterways and Ayush, in the government is recognized for his role in guiding the BJP to success in Assam. With his wealth of experience and strong leadership capabilities he emerges as a candidate for the position.
Alongside Munda and Sonowal, Dushyant Kumar, the national general secretary of the BJP, and Ramesh Bias, the Governor of Maharashtra, are also part of the observation panel. As Chhattisgarh awaits the decision on its next Chief Minister, the BJP’s top brass will play a decisive role in determining the leader who will guide the state in the coming years. In addition to Munda and Sonowal, the meeting will likely discuss other potential candidates such as Vishnudev Sai, Gomti Sai, Renuka Singh, Dr. Raman Singh, OP Choudhary, and Arun Saw. The final verdict on Chhattisgarh’s Chief Ministerial candidate will soon be unveiled, as the BJP navigates through the deliberations in this significant political landscape.
