Raipur: Chhattisgarh is the first state in India to start linking forest ecosystem services with Green GDP. This pioneering step is expected to assess the full value of ecosystem services while focusing on their importance in sustainable development in the state.

He further said that the Chhattisgarh government is in the process of preparing a Vision Document as per the Vission-2047 of Prime Minister Narendra Modiji and SDGs for the Developed India. In this document the one concept of assessing the ecosystem services that are being provided by the Forest Department. The integrated concern for the environment is also pivotal to the state’s development concern, whereby people’s future generations are guaranteed a sustainable economic future.

Kedar Kashyap, the Forest Minister, pointed out that assessing ecosystem services will help not only in the efficient allocation of financial resources but also in the prediction and improvement of future approaches, in the regulation of expenditure, and in the fortification of the development of forestry. This is a great improvement in sustainable development and efficient resource management.

In particular, Chhattisgarh has been actively working for the better future of locals by implementing an effective Joint Forest Management Program. Still, with the national parks Guru Ghasidas, Kanger Valle,y, and Indravati the state has a great scope for tourism like wildlife tourism. In many cases, local people are engaged in organizing and implementing eco-tourism activities like jungle safaris, nature trails peaceful eco-camping, thereby enhancing both socio-economic development and conservation of natural resources.

About 44% of the geographical area of Chhattisgarh is under forests, which constitute the key driver of the agrarian economy and are critical components of the lives of several million people. They get involved in carbon balancing for climate, and pollination, which is vital in agricultural activities, nutrient cycling, soil fertility, and maintaining the human biodiverse. Forests are also significant for flood and disease regulation, water flow intensity regulation, and vector-borne disease risk reduction.

By giving these services the worth they merit, Chhattisgarh is posing an example of comprehensive growth that is eco-friendly.
