Raipur: Chhattisgarh athletes presented a memorandum to the Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Tankaram Verma. The memorandum outlined seven-point demands, including the formulation of a new sports policy, organizing sports decoration events annually on a fixed date of August 29, providing an incentive amount for the last four years to motivate athletes, promptly declaring outstanding athletes, amending sports rules to include junior medal winners for government jobs, and creating a conducive environment for sports development.
The athletes emphasized that despite consistently representing the state with pride, Chhattisgarh athletes have not received the deserved recognition and respect in recent years. They expressed concerns about the athletes drifting due to a lack of acknowledgment and facing challenges in accessing their basic facilities. Under the leadership of Aman Yadav, the Pradesh Kala and Khel Sah Pramukh of the BJP Youth Morcha, all athletes submitted their memorandum.
One of the key demands included hosting the sports decoration ceremony annually on August 29, accompanied by a dedicated fund for the encouragement of athletes. They also urged the immediate announcement of exceptional athletes and the modification of sports regulations to incorporate junior medalists for government employment opportunities. Moreover, the athletes called for the expeditious implementation of the demands to safeguard the interests of the sportspersons and uphold the pride of Chhattisgarh at the national and international levels.
The athletes pointed out that the delay in fulfilling these demands could adversely affect the performance of Chhattisgarh athletes on the national and international stage. They stressed the importance of prompt action by the minister to ensure that the state’s athletes shine in various competitions, bringing glory to Chhattisgarh. The memorandum concluded with a plea to the minister to prioritize the well-being of athletes and expeditiously address their demands, fostering an environment conducive to achieving success at both the national and international levels.
