Chhattisgarh: Additional Secretary in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, GS Murthy, bid goodbye to the world after losing the battle against coronavirus. 

Shri Murthy was admitted to a private hospital in Pragyaraj after he presented symptoms of the novel virus. It is reported that his doctor’s daughter and son-in-law had made provisions to shift him to Delhi as his health deteriorated amidst which the 60-year-old additional secretary succumbed to the virus. The last rites of Shri Murthy will be performed at Mahadev Ghat in Raipur on June 5, 11:30 am.

Several members of the legislative assembly expressed grief over the demise of the additional secretary. Amongst them, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Dr Charandas Mahanta expressed deep grief. He paid homage to the departed soul and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family members. Principal Secretary of the Legislative Assembly Chandra Shekhar Gangrade also extended condolences to the family and paid homage to him on behalf of the entire Secretariat family.

 After the partition of undivided Madhya Pradesh, Shri Murthy had moved to Chhattisgarh from the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Shri Murthy’s father had breathed his last six months ago in Raipur. Shri Murthy’s younger brother Dr Ramnesh Murthy is the Dean of Ambikapur Medical College.
