Chhattisgarh: The Chandulal Chandrakar Medical College and Hospital in Durg has been recognized by the state government and would now be able to procure benefits under the state government. The Baghel government has also appointed a Dean, Officer on Special Duty and Hospital Superintendent as the operational heads of the Medical College and Affiliated hospital.
The Baghel govt during its monsoon session had passed the order to acquire the former college under its Jurisdiction. The Additional Secretary of the Department of Medical Education, Rajiv Ahire issued an order stating the appointment of necessary officers to operate the newly acquired Medical college.
As per the orders issued by the government, Dr K Patra, Additional Director of Medical Education and Director General of Sickle Cell Institute, has been authorized as the Dean. Durg Additional Collector Nupur Rashi Panna has been appointed as the OSD of Medical College. Dr Nirmal Verma, the professor of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Raipur has been bared the responsibilities of the Superintendant of the Hospital.
The acquisition of the private hospital has been a controversial topic amongst the political parties of the state. However, the Baghel govt excelled in successfully taking over the college.
