RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh is moving ahead to meet its paddy procurement target even as 80 percent of it has been purchased from farmers. Paddy procurement in CG under the paddy procurement program that began on November 1st crossed 103 LMT on Thursday officials said. The state government has enhanced the target by 11 percent this year. The paddy is being lifted from 2,600 procurement centers this year.

One of the few states in the country to procure paddy from farmers at minimum support price (MSP), Chhattisgarh has set a target to purchase 11 million tonnes (MT) during the current Kharif season of 2022-23.

The state crossed the 100 LMT milestone on 18th January. 24.96 lakh farmers have been registered in the state, of which about 2.30 lakh are new registered farmers.
