Chhattisgarh: Tikesh Vaishnav and Pragya Kashyap, both from Mungeli district have emerged as state toppers in the class XII and class X exam respectively. The CGBSE declared the Class 10th and Class 12 board exam results today (Tuesday, 23 June) via Video conference.

Tikesh secured 97.80 per cent in higher secondary school certificate (class XII) result while Pragya scored 100 per cent in high school certificate class X result. In the Class XII and Class X exam results, the girls have yet again outperformed boys.

State topper in class XII exam, Tikesh, said there is neither a secret nor any shortcut to become topper. One should be hardworking and honest towards the study.

He said that “I never study to become a topper, but I worked hard for better results. I worked very hard in the class 10th exams too, but could only score 85 percent and this time, I am happy with the class 12th result.”

His father Shiv kumar Vaishnav runs a betel shop at a nearby village. Tikesh gave the credit for his success to his parents and teachers.

While, Pragya Kashyap, who secured 100 percent in class X exam result, said “I had set six hours for studies throughout the year and now I plan to take mathematics as a main subject for my higher secondary classes. ” Pragya wants to become an IAS officer. 

Announcing the results, school education minister Prem Sai Singh Tekam said that the total pass percentage in the Class XII exams was 78.59 per cent while it was 73.62 per cent for the Class X exams.

In the Class XII exams, girls have recorded a pass percentage of 82.02 per cent, while 74.70 per cent of boys have passed. In the Class X exams, 76.28 per cent girls passed while this figure for boys stood at 70.53 per cent, Dwivedi said.

As many 2,77,563 students were registered for CGBSE Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (12th) this year, but only 2,75,736 students, comprising 1,29,315 boys and 1,46,421 girls, appeared, he said, adding that results of 2,75,495 students were declared, of which 2,16,526 (78.59 pc) passed.

Similarly, as many as 3,92,153 regular students registered for CGBSE High School Certificate Examination (10th) this year out of which 3,84,7661 students, comprising 1,78,079 boys and 2,06,682 girls, sat for the exams.

Results of 3,84,599 students were declared, with 2,83,157 (73.62 pc) passing, he said. The results of the remaining students in the two exams were withheld due to various reasons, he added.
