Chattisgarh : Recognised in the category ‘Outstanding Renewable Energy Generation Project’, Chattisgarh has recieved the ‘India Green Energy Award’ by the Indian Federation of Green Energy at a function in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The state has won this award as an acknowlwegmenet for promoting renewable energy alternatives. As part of which, Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA) has established industries based on conversion of excess paddy into biofuel ethanol as well as development of bio-jet aviation fuel and biofuel research sector.The award was presented by Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Baghwant Khuba to (CBDA) Raipur Chief Executive Officer Sumit Sarkar.
Under Suraji Gaon Yojana, the state government had approved the construction of 10,112 gauthans for conservation and nourishment of livestock in villages, and the work on 6,112 had been completed.
More than 51 lakh quintals of cow dung has been procured from these guathans that would be used to produce electricity for the illumintaion of the villages. Power generation units that use cow dung as fuel were inaugrated by CM Baghel on October 2nd.

The federation evaluated 46 participants acorss sectors from states for the award recognizing the efforts towards establishing a sustainable energy ecosystem. The jury was constituted of domain experts from the green energy sector nominated by relevant Ministries, Departments, Agencies, Industries, Media Experts.
