Dantewada, Chhattisgarh: Naxalite Kumari Hemla surrendered before the Antagarh police of Kanker district on Wednesday as part of the Naxalite eradication campaign. There was a reward of one lakh rupees on Hemla. Police said that the woman Naxalite was active in the area for the last several years.
By surrendering, women Naxalites will be given grant money under the Lon Varratu campaign. The female Naxalite Hemla was involved in the Naxalite encounter in 2017 and 2018. Under the Lon Varratu campaign, a total of 567 Naxalites, including 143 prize Naxalites, have surrendered and joined the mainstream people of the society.
The surrendered woman Naxalite Kumari Hemla was involved in many big incidents in the year 2017-18. In the year 2017, she was involved in the village Dugeli Dhana police-Naxalite encounter in Gangalur forest. In the year 2018, she was involved in the village Timnar Police-Naxal encounter in the jungle. Eight of the army comrades were killed in that incident whose dead bodies and weapons were brought back by the police.
