RAIPUR: The third day of the CG Legislative Assembly’ winter session was adjourned indefinitely for the day as the opposition during the question hour lashed out at the ruling party aggressively. Opposition hurled questions at the Baghel cabinet on the ruckus it created over the delay of the signing of the reservation quota amendment.
CG Minster Kawasi Lakhma earlier in the day slammed the BJP calling it ‘shameless’ in the delay in the assent by the Guv. He along with several others arrived at the Assembly donning black bands on the hands indicating aggression towards the opposition. It is worth mentioning that a delegation of senior Congress leaders and MLAs met Governor Anusuiya Uikey after the rally. They urged her to sign the bills at the earliest, but the governor reiterated that she would take the decision after taking legal opinion on the provisions of the bill, a communiqué by Raj Bhavan said.
Two govt bills were tabled in the House on the third day. Home Minister Tamardhwaj Sahu presented the CG Gambling Bill 2022. Housing and Environment Minister Akbar presented the Chhattisgrah Unauthorized Development Regularization Amendment Bill 2022.
The Congress in a big move on Tuesday held a mega rally in Raipur to press a demand for early approval of the pending bills by the governor and called the opposition- anti-reservation.
The issue of pending reservation bills has turned into a political slugfest between the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP, with the former seeking to pull the governor’s office into the tussle with allegations that the governor’s advisors were working at the behest of the BJP.
