BILASPUR: In a major decision the Bilaspur HC on Tuesday rejected the stay on the assistant teacher promotion case. A single bench of the HC dismissed the stay and ordered the promotions to be provided through counseling.
The matter dates back to 2022, when the Korba Education Dept had released the promotion list for 1145 posts. However, the assistant teachers raised allegations of irregularities in the order issued by the DEO and thereby moved to the HC demanding the promotion be awarded through counselling.
The Korba collector in view of the complaint had halt the promotion and stated that they would be filled according to the rules of the government. He had added that a committee would be formed for counselling. The committee will have a joint collector rank officer as the chairman, added the then Korba collector, Sanjeev Jha. He also asserted a probe into the list being claimed to be deliberately tampered.
It is worth noting that more than 2000 teacher are eligible for promotion in the list released from the district level.
