The High Court has dismissed 40 petitions seeking re-evaluation of the preliminary examination results of CGPSC 2023. After the results of PSC 2023 were declared, 40 candidates filed a petition stating that the PSC’s decision regarding five questions was wrong. The case was heard in a single bench of Justice Sachin Singh Rajput.
Let us tell you that CGPSC had issued an advertisement on 29 November 2023 for recruitment to the posts of State Civil Services. The preliminary examination was conducted in two shifts on 11 February 2024, after which the model answers were released. After the claim objection, the revised model answers were released and then the result was released.
40 candidates who could not get selected for the main exam on the basis of the result of the preliminary exam of PSC had filed a petition in the High Court, calling the decision of the PSC wrong regarding five questions. According to this, after releasing the revised model answer, some questions were removed. The petitioners argued that if those questions were not removed, they would not have been deprived of the main exam. The advocate of the petitioners said that by removing a particular question, proportional marks have been given, but this is given to the candidate who did not attempt the said question or who has given the wrong answer to the said question.
After hearing the case, the court said in its decision that sympathy cannot be the basis for giving instructions for re-evaluation. The court said that there is no doubt that the candidates work hard in preparing for the examination but we should not forget that the officials also work equally hard to conduct the examination.
