Bilaspur: Chhattisgarh is under a health emergency as more than 70 people living here are suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. Diarrhea has spread in Atal Awas of Sakri. People are falling ill due to lack of cleanliness in the area and drinking dirty water. On receiving the information, the health department team is treating the patients by setting up camps.
Diarrhea has started spreading as soon as the rains have come, and people are getting sick by drinking dirty water coming from the taps. More than 70 people of Sakri area have been affected by diarrhea. 3 to 4 people of the same family are suffering from vomiting and diarrhea, but the condition of children is getting worse. On receiving information about the deterioration of people’s health, the health department came into action and medicines were distributed to all the people. Also, some people were sent to the hospital.
The health department team has surveyed the area and distributed medicines after going door-to-door to check the health of the people. According to the health department officials, the situation is under control. The team has collected water samples from the surrounding area. The health department will set up a camp here and check the people.
According to UNICEF 2024 data, diarrhoea is the leading killer of children accounting for approximately 9 percent of all deaths among children under the age of 5. This translates to over 1200 young children dying daily despite the availability of simple treatment solutions. These deaths are highest in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
