Raipur: On the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, the Excise dept of Baghel govt has declared a ‘Dry Day’ in the state on Friday. In it order released- Outlets selling alcohol on a regular basis including restaurants, bars, shops, and clubs have been barred from selling alcohol.
The notice issued for Dry Day warned storage of liquor on unlicensed premises. All District Officers have been directed to maintain strict surveillance of locals and investigate suspects if any during the said period. Strict action has been called against those who are seen violating rules.
On the same note, the Urban Secretary Administration and Development Dept has issued orders directing all meat shops to remain closed. All shops under the limits of the Urban body should comply with the orders the notice read.
Jaitusaw Math of Old Basti, Gopal Temple of Sadar Bazar, Radhakrishna Temple of Samta Colony, Khatu Shyam Temple, and ISKCON Temple have been decked up for the celebrations that will begin on August 19th. A three-day celebration has been planned for the occasion.
Janmashtami is the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. This year marks the 5,249th birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. It will be observed on 18 August (Thursday) and 19 August (Friday). According to the Hindu calendar, Lord Krishna was born on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapad. He is believed to be the eighth avatar or incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Ardent devotees observe a fast on this special day and abstain from consuming grains until sunrise the next day.
