Pithora: The biggest fraud has come to light in this year’s paddy procurement case in Chhattisgarh. Paddy worth Rs 2 crore has been purchased fraudulently in Jadamuda paddy procurement centre. There are preparations to register an FIR in the matter after suspending committee manager Umesh Bhoi. Two computer operators Manoj Pradhan and Manish Pradhan have been relieved. 18 farmers may also have to go to jail in this case.
In Pithora Society, paddy was procured in a very clever manner by increasing the area of the fields. In this case, 18 farmers may also have to go to jail. However, the investigating officers are giving enough time to the farmers, due to which these farmers are preparing the affidavit of fake Regha-Adhiya. Consent is being obtained through fake signatures. There will also be a complaint for notary and stamp paper verification. After investigation many officers will also come under the radar.
Earlier in Novemebr 2022, an FIR was lodged against an incharge of a paddy procurement centre here for alleged fraud in procuring it from farmers, an official said on Wednesday.
The case was fired at Bithri Chainpur Police station after Bareilly Divisional Commissioner Sanyukta Samaddar found discrepancies in the records of a procurement centre in the Nariyawal Mandi area. On further investigation, it was found out that the centre incharge procured the paddy from middlemen instead of farmers.
“It was found that the names and details of farmers which were recorded at the centre were not correct. We have also heard complaints that the centre incharge procures paddy from middlemen instead of farmers directly,” Samaddar said. A departmental inquiry has also been initiated against the centre incharge Sankalp Katiyar, the official added.
