Raipur: The second phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly elections is set to witness voting in 70 constituencies on November 17. The campaigning will cease from 5 PM today, 48 hours before the polling ends. During this period, candidates are permitted to conduct door-to-door outreach. A total of 958 candidates, including 827 males, 130 females, and one third gender candidate, are contesting in this phase.
The state expects 1,63,14,479 voters to exercise their franchise, comprising 81,41,624 male voters, 81,72,171 female voters, and 684 third gender voters. To ensure smooth voting, 18,833 polling centers have been established, with 700 exclusively managed by female polling staff.
The elections for the Chhattisgarh Assembly’s second phase will cover various constituencies like Bharatpur-Sonhat, Manendragarh, Baikunthpur, Premnagar, Bhatgaon, Pratappur, Ramanujganj, Samri, Lundra, Ambikapur, Sitapur, Jashpur, Kunakuri, Patthalgaon, Lailunga, Raigarh, Sarangarh, Kharsia, Dharmajaygarh, Rampur, Korba, Katghora, Pali-Tanakhar, Marwahi, Kota, Lormi, Mungeli, Takhatpur, Bilha, Bilaspur, Beltara, Masturi, Akaltara, Jangir-Champa, Sakati, Chandrapur, Jaijaipur, Pamgarh, Saraipali, Basna, Khallari, Mahasamund, Bilaigad, Kasdol, Balauda Bazar, Bhatapara, Dharasiwah, Raipur Gramin, Raipur Nagar Pashchim, Raipur Nagar Uttar, Raipur Nagar Dakshin, Arang, Abhanpur, Rajim, Bindranawagarh, Sihawa, Kurud, Dhamtari, Sanjari-Balod, Doundilohara, Gundardehi, Patan, Durg Gramin, Durg Shahar, Bhilai Nagar, Vaishali Nagar, Ahivara, Saja, Bemetara, and Nawagarh.
The voting will commence from 8 AM to 5 PM, except in nine polling centers in the Bindranawagarh constituency, where the voting period will be from 7 AM to 3 PM. The state administration is taking rigorous measures to ensure a smooth and secure electoral process.
