Raipur: The Grand old party in Chhattisgarh commenced the Bharat Jodo Yatra on Sunday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. At the Rajiv Bhawan, tributes were paid to the father of the nation who promoted nonviolence following which the Yatra began from all 307 HQs across the state.
In the state capital, the Yatra was led by Raipur Rural MLA Satyanarayn Sharma while in Kondagaon PCC chief Moham Markam took charge of the march.
It is worth noting that despite being a state under the Congress Governance, the Bharat Jodo Yatra will not pass through CG. According to close sources from the party, the state is out of the senior party leaders’ itinerary because of the Moist threat. During the blueprint planning of the yatra, a candidate on grounds of anonymity said that the routes and available choices for the foot march have been focused on areas that are not under Congress. It added that since Congress had a strong foothold in CG, there was no harm in not including the state in the march plan.
As of today, the convoy of Rahul Gandhi entered day four in the southern district of Karnataka.
According to sources, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are scheduled to reach Mysuru city at noon and proceed to Mandakalli airport in Mysuru by a special flight. Both the leaders would visit the Chamundeshwari hills and seek the Goddess’s blessings. Later, they would leave by helicopter for hill station Kodagu where they will rest for a couple of days.
