Raipur: With widespread protests in the nation being held by the Congress, members of the CG Congress party also staged solidarity with their chiefs.
A sit-out demonstration was held by the party members at the Ambedkar Chowk in Raipur. Following this party leader Baghel, and State party president Mohan Markam began a foot march to Raj Bhavan.

Addressing the gathering at the Ambedkar Chowk, Baghel alleged the ruling party failed to control inflation. He slammed the centre for illicit acquisition of funds being paid by citizens of India in the form of tax. Fiercely targetting the Modi govt, Baghel said-we will fight for the rights of the common man.
Earlier in the day Congress President Mohan Markam also addressed the party workers and resonated with the Former Congress President. He targeted the centre on the recently imposed GST on food items. The Centre’s move to impose the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on essential items like pre-packaged cereals, flour, honey, and curd have further added woes to the worries of people, he added.
Accusing the Narendra Modi government of failing to create employment opportunities, Markam said, “The controversial, poorly-conceived and hastily-crafted Agnipath scheme, which carries many risks, has not only destroyed the long-standing traditions and ethos of the armed forces but also crushed the aspirations of lakhs of unemployed youth.”
Meanwhile, in the National capital, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several others were detained. They were dragged into vehicles from outside the party HQs where they protested. Before pulling Priyanka Gandhi into a vehicle, police were seen trying to persuade her to end the protest. But she refused to move, gesturing to cops that she has a right to protest.
In a video tweeted by the party — apparently while going towards the party office — Priyanka Gandhi says, “The government thinks it can silence us. It thinks that by showing us this (police) force, it can make us quietly sit in buses… But we have a purpose.
