Korba: Santara Mahant, elder sister of Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Charan Das Mahant, died of a heart attack late on Sunday night. She was 70 years old. A few days back, she was admitted to New Korba Hospital due to illness. Her last rites have been performed on Monday at 1 pm at Balgi Khar Muktidham.
Santara Mahant was the daughter of the Minister and PCC Chairman in the undivided Madhya Pradesh Government Bisahudas Mahant. Her husband Krishna Das Mahant is a retired officer of Balco. Santara Mahant has two children Bharat Prakash Mahant and Omita Mahant.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed his condolences by talking to the Speaker of the Assembly, Dr Charandas Mahant over the phone. Expressing condolences to the bereaved family members, the Chief Minister has prayed to God for peace to the soul of Santara Mahant.
