BIJAPUR: A 58-year-old assistant platoon commander of Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) was killed in an IED planted by Maoists in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, officials said.

Two teams of CAF were sent to the Etepal and Timenar camps under the Mirtur police station limits to ensure security for the road construction work underway.
The victim Vijay Yadav, a resident of Jagdalpur and a native of Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh belonged to CAF’s 19th battalion. The body of Yadav was brought to Bhairmagarh and would be handed over to the family following the formalities, the official said interacting with the reporters.
