Raipur. The budget session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly will be held from February 23 to March 20. Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh gave detailed information about the outline and agenda of the session in a press conference today. He informed that a total of 15 meetings are proposed in this budget session. The session will begin with the address of Governor Ramen Deka on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 11:05 am. The motion of thanks on the Governor’s address will be discussed on February 25. The address will be broadcast live on Doordarshan and All India Radio.
Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary will present the Budget for the year 2026-27 at 12:30 pm on February 24, 2026. The Budget speech will be broadcast live on Doordarshan Raipur and All India Radio Raipur.
General discussion on the budget for the financial year 2026-27 will take place on February 26 and 27. Following this, discussions on department-wise grant demands are scheduled from March 9 to 17. The Appropriation Bill, related to the budget demands, will be introduced on March 17, while March 18 is scheduled for discussion and passage of the Appropriation Bill.
Two important bills are proposed
The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly informed that under the Government Legislative Works, notices have been received regarding two important Bills –
(1) Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion Bill, 2026
(2) Chhattisgarh Public Security (Measures) Enforcement Bill, 2026
There is a possibility of political discussion and debate regarding these bills during the session.
Large number of questions and proposals
A total of 2,813 notices of questions have been received so far for this session, including 1,376 starred questions. In addition, 61 notices of calling attention motions, one notice for discussion on a matter of urgent public importance under Rule 139, 13 private members’ resolutions, nine notices of Zero Hour, and 112 petitions have also been received.
Obituary mention
The session will also include a mention of the passing of Deendayal Singh Porte, a former member of the undivided Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh stated that the budget session will feature extensive discussions on important financial, legislative, and public interest issues. The government and opposition are expected to have meaningful debates on various topics, which will determine the state’s policy direction.
