On Thursday, an industrial accident in Mangal Carbon plant in the Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh created panic in the area. The accident happened in the village of Banjipathar located within the territory of the Kharsia police station, when a boiler-related operation was inaccurate during the opening of its lid.
As it was first reported, the accident occurred during a routine task on the boiler located in the plant premises. The lid was opened and the result was an accident because of the sudden release of heat and pressure and six people were burned. The fact of a child among the injured has also been officially established, which contributes to the national anxiety about the incident.
After the accident, anarchy ensued at the plant. Colleagues and the local people ran to the rescue, carrying the injured people out of the premises safely. The ambulance took the six victims to Raigarh District Hospital where they are undergoing treatment. According to the hospital authorities, hurt people are getting the required medical attention and are under close supervision of a team of doctors.
Local administrative and police officials arrived at the scene to investigate the situation after getting information about the Raigarh boiler accident. The Kharsia police have documented the incident and they are already conducting a prelim inquiry. Authorities are also keeping an eye on the state of the injured even as they compile facts on the turn of events that caused the mishap.
Locals have been anxious when they heard that a child will be hurt. Nonetheless, there is still no official report that confirmed any critical state. The officials have also reported that an elaborate investigation is to be carried out to ascertain the real cause of the accident and whether safety measures were observed at the plant.
