Raipur: The Mandavi family has preserved the body of their son, Badru Mandavi who was killed in a joint operation by the Central Reserve Police Forces and the DRG in Gampur Village in Kirandul, on March 19th, 2020.
The tribal family has dug a pit and wrapped his body as evidence of a fake encounter hoping for justice. The body is wrapped in a white shroud sprayed with medicinal oil, herbs and salt.
According to sources, Badru was suspected to be in charge of the Gangalur Area Committee, a Maoist division in Bastar and an expert in IED. It is reported that Badru held a reward of Rs 2 lakh.
Responding to questions, Bastar IP Sunderraj denied targeting Mandavi and called it an encounter between Maoists and the security forces.
Villagers and residents of the deceased deny allegations on Mandavi and demand an official enquiry into the matter. The family claims Badru was murdered. Though a majority of the body seems to have been decomposed, the family asserts to perform last rites only after the court took cognizance of the matter.
