Sukma: The death of a woman Naxal in a fire exchange that occurred Tuesday morning has been reported. A joint team of Sukma and Dantewada held on an operation to get down Naxalites in the Marjum district under the Tongpal PS limit.
Reportedly, these forces crawled in the area captured by Naxalites and opened fire as the day emerged. Sukma, SP Sunil Sharma confirmed the encounter and informed that the operation was still underway.
The last attack on soldiers was reported in December, where at least 12 CRPF officials succumbed to their injuries after Naxals trapped a road opening party of the security forces in the Naxal-hit Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The Naxals also looted arms and ammunition and the injured soldiers were taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, as a threat from Naxals and terrorists ahead of Republic Day is speculated, the central security forces have constituted a Delhi QAT which can respond within minutes in case of any fidayeen (suicide) or terror attack in Delhi and nearby areas on receiving instructions from the government. The elite team will have commandos who have won the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) for eliminating terrorists and Naxals in operations. Majorly from Kashmir and Chhattisgarh, these commandoes would have first-hand experience in terror situations, hostage situations, encounters, handling IEDs etc in urban as well as jungle areas.
