Raipur: The Bhartiya Janta Party has approached the NIA urging it to take action against a video of Congress MLA from CG purportedly inciting violence during the protest against the Agnipath scheme.
On Tuesday, BJP Chief Vishnu Deo Sai wrote to the NIA demanding investigation against Vikram Shah Mandavi, Congress MLA from Bijapur for allegedly instigating the tribal youth against the Aginpath Scheme. He further wrote that a conspiracy was being hatched to instigate violence in the name of the Centre’s new military scheme.
“The statement of Mandavi, who represents a tribal-dominated and Naxal-affected area, is an attempt to provoke innocent tribals to commit violence. His act is clearly anti-national. The NIA should take suo moto cognizance and investigate Congress’ role in well-planned violence that happened during the protest against Agnipath,” Sai wrote in the letter.
In the video, the Bjipaur MLA while addressing party workers during the protest is heard saying,”
“I would like to appeal that you should tell people about the scheme. We should come out on the streets to oppose it in the coming days. The way youths are protesting in Bihar and other states, torching vehicles, the same kind of protest should be held everywhere.”
Mandavi on being contacted claimed the video was spoofed and denied having instigated party workers to cause violence.
Nationwide protests have been witnessed since the Centre announced the Aginpath Scheme on June 14. Bus and trains have been vandalized, and stikes have been called across several states.
