In the presence of top BJP party leaders, the issue was raised by some of the leaders that the disparaging and offensive remarks which had at anyone, especially the Head of Government, was a cause for concern and needed to be addressed. In response, the BJP is following up on two cases with the Election Commission and is requesting immediate punishments for the leaders who are accused of election offences against Dr Charandas Mahant. Disproving the rumours, the general secretary of the BJP organisation, Sanjay Shrivastava, highlighted that the matter was due to Dr Charandas Mahant’s statement.
Despite occupying the official position of the former Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, he did not adhere to the dignity of those institutional posts. The BJP charged the Congress to instigate its workers to dispose of the violence during assembly. They spoke about the limits of free speech and, in the meantime, asserted that they would bring the case to the court of public opinion. They protested against this sentence by burning effigies, and it was promised that FIRs would be filed against them. Moreover, Sanjay Evenly tipped keeping internal conflicts within the organization.
Notably, on Tuesday, opposition leader Dr. Charandas Mahant went to Rajnandgaon to campaign for former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. During this visit, he made a series of controversial statements, one after another. Referring to PM Modi, he stated that they need someone who can wield a stick and break heads against him, and this person could be Bhupesh Baghel or Devendra Yadav.
Get them elected and send them to Delhi. Before this, Dr. Mahant gave a controversial statement regarding industrialist Navin Jindal’s entry into the BJP, saying that Jindal had ruined the Raigarh area and messed up Chhattisgarh. Such people should be beaten with shoes. Bhupesh, brother, we should never let such people into the party.
These incidents have escalated tensions between the BJP and Congress in Chhattisgarh. Both parties are engaging in verbal sparring, heightening the political atmosphere in the state.
