Raipur: On Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded a judicial investigation into the death of a relative of Chhattisgarh minister TS Singh Deo. A 42-year-old Veerbhadra Pratap Singh, also known as Sachin Baba- a relative of Singh Deo was discovered dead on Friday near the railroad tracks in the district of Bilaspur. According to the BJP, Veerbhadra Pratap Singh was arrested last year in connection with the alleged attack on the convoy of Congress MLA Brihaspat Singh and his death is suspected to be an avenge of the detention.
Veerbhadra Pratap Singh, a Janpad panchayat representative and a relative of Chattisgarh minister TS Singh Deo was discovered dead close to railroad tracks in the Bilaspur district. Police believe he may have fallen from the Durg-Ambikapur Express train accidentally, in which he was travelling.
According to Parul Mathur, senior superintendent of police ( SSP) in Bilaspur, the body was discovered by railroad workers, who subsequently notified the police. She stated that once the body was identified, his family was notified and a forensic team was dispatched to the spot to conduct an investigation. As per reports, he was on board the Durg-Ambikapur Express from Raipur to Ambikapur on Thursday night. Preliminary reports indicate the death was a mishap. However, SSP Mathur added that further inquiry was underway.
Veerbhadra, a district panchayat member, was one of those detained by the police last year for the attack on the convoy of Brihaspath Singh, an MLA from the Ramanujganj seat in north Chhattisgarh who is well-known for being Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s loyalist.
After the attack in July 2021, Brihaspath Singh accused Singh Deo, the health minister, of planning the attack on his convoy in Ambikapur, setting off a political storm inside the Chhattisgarh Congress.
