Bijapur: An encounter has taken place between jawans and Naxalites in the Naxal-affected Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The encounter between the police and the Naxalites took place in the dense forest of the village Timenar and the ravine of Porowada under the Miratur police station. A Naxalite has been killed in this encounter which lasted for about an hour.
According to the police, DRG and STF teams led to the information about the presence of Naxalites of the Bhairamgarh Area Committee at these places. The joint action of the jawans resulted in a tremendous encounter. A Naxalite was killed in this encounter which took place at around 10 am. The Naxalite has not been identified.
On police search, weapons, explosives and other Naxalite materials of daily use have been recovered from the spot. Confirming this, Bijapur ASP Chandrakant Gavarna said that the incident took place in Timenar forest under the Miratur police station area. The encounter has come to an end and the jawans have returned after recovering the dead body of the Naxalite from the spot.
A day ago, in the Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, the Kukrajhor police arrested a Naxalite Jagdish Markam resident of Hikpad. Maoists have been involved in setting fire to a mixer machine engaged in construction work, killing a person on suspicion of being a police informer. He was produced in the court, where he has been sent to jail on judicial remand.
Naxalite Jagdish Markam is accused of setting fire to a mixer machine and other machines engaged in construction work in Kukjhor to Karelghati area on December 3, 2020. Apart from this, he was also involved in the murder of Lakhmu Ram Gota on May 12, 2021, in village Nednar on the suspicion of being a police informer.
