Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel unveiled a series of schemes aimed at enhancing the convenience and safety of the public, especially women, in their travel from Raipur to Delhi. These initiatives include measures to ensure the safe travel of women, such as the mandatory installation of panic buttons in all passenger vehicles and the inclusion of GPS systems to provide immediate vehicle location in case of panic button activation. Additionally, a dedicated Nirbhaya Command and Control Center has been established to prioritize women’s safety.
In addition to these safety measures, Chief Minister Baghel also inaugurated automated fitness centers in Raipur and Durg, an automatic number plate recognition center, a bio-ethanol plant in Godhi, Durg, and the Chhattisgarh Bhawan in New Delhi. During the launch, CM Bhupesh emphasized that these initiatives by the Transport Department not only ensure the complete security of women during their journeys but also contribute to the reduction of road accidents. Furthermore, it will facilitate the enforcement of regulations for vehicles lacking valid documents, thus curbing illegal activities.
Transport Commissioner Dipanshu Kabra disclosed that the installation of GPS and panic buttons in passenger vehicles will be carried out under the Nirbhaya project. Activation of the panic button in emergency situations will immediately trigger an alert to the emergency services via the 112 hotline, providing the vehicle’s location and enabling swift assistance.
Moreover, the automated fitness centers will expedite vehicle inspections, ensuring efficiency and compliance. Plans are also underway to establish automatic fitness centers in other key locations across Chhattisgarh, such as Bilaspur, Ambikapur, Jagdalpur, Korba, Raigarh, and Rajnandgaon, further enhancing road safety measures.
