Bastar: Bela Bhatia, a popular social worker of Bastar has questioned the arrest of 8 Naxalites in Sukama district of Chhattisgarh. She has accused the police that the people imprisoned by the Chhattisgarh Police as Naxalites are actually innocent villagers.

The social worker has said thay Moolwasi Bachao Manch had organized a meeting in Silgar on 1st November, the information about the same was made viral on social media. This gathering was attended by many senior social workers, lawyers, and citizens from big cities too. After the meeting was completed, everyone was returning home. During their return, the Police caught almost 55 individuals out of which 8 were called Naxalites.

The villagers were stopped, interrogated, and then taken to Chintalnar Police Station. During further interrogation at the police station, 2 villagers had accepted that they used to work with Naxalites 4 years ago, but are leading a hardworking life now.

Earlier, Sukama’s Superintendent of Police, Sunil Sharma has described 6 people as Naxalites which had a prize of Rs 17 lakhs. While the other two men are said to be the members of Naxalite militia. With Bela Bhatia’s accusation, the matter of their arrest has gained tremendous momentum.
