Bastar: It has brought a tidal change joy to the remote villages of Bastar where people have long been demanding good roads. In Phase-4 of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, 87 new rural roads valued above ₹240 crore have been approved to be constructed in the region. These are approximately 237 kilometers long roads that are likely to make a strong connection in the last miles in the district. The Tiriya-Pulcha and Barsur-Palli highways will be some of the critical paths and they will connect remote villages to local communities allowing them to access crucial services.

These roads will ease the movement of people to schools, hospitals and markets once constructed, since they are going to these places because they are in hilly and forested surroundings. The incurable issue of muddy lanes and washed away routes during rainy seasons will also be done away with. The Bakawand and Lohandiguda blocks will be the biggest beneficiaries of this development and most of the inaccessible areas in Darbha will have pavement roads first. This is likely to benefit farmers especially through the quick and secure movement of agricultural products to the local markets. The authorities consider that this project will become a historic event in terms of social and economic progress of the area.

In the meantime the effects of Cyclone Ditwah have begun to be felt in Dantewada and other places. In the following 48 hours, the locality can have cloudy weather, light precipitation and change of temperature. The citizens might experience warm days and slightly cold nights. In Jagdalpur and Dantewada it had already been reported that there had been early morning showers. The paddy crop that had been left in the fields and threshing yards in the district was around half and more rain would spoil harvest readiness grains. Governments have recommended farmers to cover and cover their produce and the Meteorological Department has advised people to be watchful.

Another development has been protest by land traders and farmers over the new guideline rates with a memorandum being placed before the Collector and Commissioner.
