Raipur. The Chhattisgarh government is organizing the “Bastar Olympics 2025” to promote traditional sports, identify the athletic talent of youth in the tribal and Naxal-affected areas of the Bastar division, and integrate them into the mainstream. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma inaugurated the event today in the remote forest village of Kachhapal in Narayanpur.
On this occasion, a tug-of-war competition was held between the rural women of Irkbhatti and Kachchapal, in which the women of Irkbhatti won. The Deputy Chief Minister met with the players and encouraged them. Seeing their enthusiasm, he distributed “Bastar Olympics 2025” T-shirts to all of them.
This competition will be held in three phases at the development block, district, and division levels. Over 380,000 participants from across the Bastar division are participating in the Bastar Olympics 2025, including over 47,000 participants in Narayanpur.
Addressing the villagers at the event, Deputy Chief Minister Sharma said that the Bastar Olympics is not just about sports; it is also a symbol of Bastar’s harmony, brotherhood, trust, and unity. These Olympics provides a platform for Bastar’s youth to showcase their natural talents, instilling confidence in them, and fostering their sporting talents. We are confident that this Olympics will also provide the state with international-level athletes who will elevate Bastar’s reputation not only in the state but across the world.
