In the past few years, cases where teachers report to work places, including schools, under the influence of alcohol are on the rise. There is a similar example in the Balodabazar district where villagers used their smartphones to record teachers in the inebriated state, which was later uploaded on a social site. In response, the District Education Officer did not wait a moment and suspended all three teachers.

In the Kasdol block of the district, Assistant Teacher Radhe Shyam Diwan, posted at Alkatara Primary School, was charged with absence from school. Anytime he went, he went under the influence of alcohol. He was also missing from the flag-hoisting ceremony of Independence Day. Similar complaints were raised against two other teachers: the headmaster of the Government Primary School in Datta (P), section Kumbhaj Ram Dhruv, the assistant teacher of the Government Primary School in Lariya Rajkumar Dhruv. One was said to have been inebriated, while the other was going to school in a similar state.

After so many complaints, these matters were seized seriously by District Education Officer Himanshu Bharti. After that, he conducted an investigation and dismissed all three teachers within the shortest time possible.

This problem has become rampant in schools where teachers who are supposed to be noble and models engage in embarrassing conduct. Such steps not only undermine the education atmosphere but also negatively impact the education system as a whole. Actions such as suspensions make educators and other staff members know the level of professionalism that is expected of them and the consequences of failing to perform duties as required. The local authorities wish to make sure that such occurrences can be prevented in the future as the effect on the students and the learning environment is very negative.
