Pathalgaon: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel advised the Governments of Odisha and Madhya Pradesh to take strict action towards drug smuggling in the state. While returning from the Congress Working Committee meeting in Delhi, Baghel has made comments after a ganja-laden vehicle plowed through a Dussehra procession in Jashpur district on Friday.

“It has been often seen that whether it is Mahasamund, Bastar, whether it is in the area of Raigad, ganja smugglers are continuously coming from Odisha. Odisha government must take strict action in the matter. Where is all this hemp coming from?”, said the chief minister.

He further added that ganja smugglers also come from Madhya Pradesh as the car involved in the Jashpur incident was from the same state. “Madhya Pradesh government should take cognizance of this”, said Baghel.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Police has arrested accused Bablu Vishwakarma (21) and Shishupal Sahu (26) hailing from Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. Chhattisgarh police has removed the inspector in charge Santlal Ayaam and suspended a sub-inspector KK Sahu.

Earlier on Saturday, Baghel announced a relief compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the deceased Gaurav Agrawal’s family. The incident had left 20 wounded and four critically injured.
