Raipur: The Congress Working Committee (CWC) convened in Hyderabad, addressing various matters, including the ongoing controversy surrounding Sanatan Dharma. Sources reveal that several Congress leaders urged a cautious approach, advising against falling into the BJP’s agenda.

During the CWC meeting, prominent figures like Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh emphasized the importance of the party steering clear of such contentious topics and avoiding entanglement. They cautioned that involvement in the Sanatan dispute could be detrimental to the party’s interests.

Notably, Rahul Gandhi, the former Congress President, echoed these sentiments, advising party leaders to refrain from getting embroiled in the Sanatan controversy. He emphasized redirecting focus toward issues affecting the impoverished, a traditional vote bank for the party. Rahul Gandhi stressed that regardless of caste, the party should prioritize the concerns of the economically disadvantaged.

In the meeting, both Bhupesh Baghel and Digvijay Singh argued that taking a stance on the Sanatan Dharma controversy could potentially harm the party while benefiting the BJP. This collective perspective highlights the strategic considerations within the Congress party, aiming to navigate sensitive issues while concentrating on the welfare and interests of their core constituency, the underprivileged.
