Raipur: After concluding the Kisan Mahapanchayat at Rajim Complex Mandi on Tuesday, SKM leader Rakesh Tikait and several other farmers association members headed to CM Bhupesh Baghel’s residence in the evening.
Convening with Rakesh Tikait and Medha Patkar separately issues like the agricultural crisis, govt cooperation and tribal problems were discussed between the CM and the representatives. Baghel during the interaction expressed solidarity with the farmers, citing himself as a farmer. He asserted that the state administration was determined to uplift the farmers and tribal’s of Chhattisgarh socio-economically. He further assured that the farmers would be provided utmost support from the state administration.
Tikait during his meeting appreciated the Baghel administration’s decision to procure paddy at Rs 2500 and discussed the schemes under the Rajiv Gandhi Nyay Yojana and Godhan Nayay scheme. The farmer’s delegation also proposed to the CM a twin benefit scheme for which he was urged to increase the paddy procurement from 15 quintals per acre to 25 quintals.
Apart from SKM leader Tikait and Medha Patkar several social workers like Dr Sunliam, Balvir Singh Sirsa, Gautam Bandyopadhyay were amongst a few members of the farmer’s delegation at the CM’s residence on Tuesday night.
