Chhattisgarh: Former MP and senior Congress leader Karuna Shukla died of COVID-19 at Ramakrishna CARE Hospitals, Raipur during the early hours of Tuesday.   Karuna Shukla, the niece of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was undergoing treatment for Covid-19 after she tested positive for and was admitted to a private hospital on Monday evening.  The last rites of the congress lady will be performed today in Baloda Bazar, Chhattisgarh. 

Condolences poured from across the country on social media, praising the lady and her contributions during her term as a skilled leader, a wealthy MLA, and MP of amazing organizational capacity.

 Dr Raman Singh, Former Chief minister and National Vice-president of the BJP entitled her as the true representative of the people. Several BJP members expressed grief about the demise of the established lady.

 Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed grief over the demise of Karuna Shukla and said that he had a close family relationship outside of politics with her.  “My aunt Karuna Shukla is no more. The ruthless Corona took her as well. She has had a very close family relationship outside of politics and I continued to get her blessings. May God give her space in their shrines and we all have the power to bear her loss,” he tweeted in Hindi.
