Raipur: UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has lately announced a new variant of the COVID-19 virus, traced by the experts. “Given the early evidence we have on this new variant of the virus and the potential risk it poses, it is with a heavy heart that I must tell you we cannot continue with Christmas as planned”.
On account of the new strain, the Chhattisgarh government has now enforced a few standard operating procedures for people traveling to Chhattisgarh from the United Kingdom.
According to a press release issued by the state government, “People, who are coming to Chhattisgarh from the UK via airplane, train, road or another way must undergo RT-PCR test while entering the state. If they test positive then the travelers should be kept in COVID centers/quarantine centers. And SOPs should be followed for contact tracing”.
The statement also instructed that even after recovery, a COVID-19 patient would have to extend the isolation to at least 14 more days.
It is noteworthy that precautionary measures to restrain the new strain of the virus has already been taken by the government of India, as aviation services from Britain to India have been suspended till December 31 of the present year.
