All 39 Lakh Rural Households in Chhattisgarh to Have Tap Water Connection by 2023: CM Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur: In the 19th edition of his monthly radio address program ‘Lokvaani’, Baghel spoke on New Era of Development and gave a detailed account of development and welfare initiatives being taken in the state. 

CM stated that all 39 lakh rural households in Chhattisgarh would be supplied pure drinking water through tap connection by 2023. “We have started a major campaign through ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’, under which pure drinking water will be supplied through tap connection to all 39 lakh rural households by the year 2023,” the release quoted. 

Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Chhattisgarh earlier had dedicated to supply 40 litres of pure drinking water per person a day, however, citing the budget of Rs 850 crore allocated to the scheme in the current financial year, CM said that now the administration aims to supply 55 litres of drinking water per person a day.

CM expressed the willingness to complete the Jal Jeevan Mission 2024 a year ahead of the deadline set by the Centre. Highlighting the benefits of the new industrial policy of the state, Baghel stated that the work to set up food parks in every development block has commenced. A mega forest produce processing unit worth Rs 78 crore is being set up in Durg district. 

Additionally, the state administration has collaborated with several private firms to establish such units, informed CM Baghel. He also emphasized the development of the healthcare sector since the party came to power in 2018.
