New Delhi: The Centre announces the commencement of registrations for adults above 18 years from 4 pm today. Under its third phase, everyone above the age of 18 is eligible to be vaccinated against the viral disease. All those eligible can register on the Co-Win portal – cowin.gov.in.
In this phase, vaccine manufacturers will supply 50 per cent of their monthly released doses to the Central government and they will be free to supply the remaining 50 per cent doses to States as well as in the open market. The Centre has mandated registration after which your vaccination centre and timings will be issued. In this phase, the Centre has also allowed states, private hospitals and industrial establishments to procure the vaccine doses directly from manufacturers.
Congress-ruled states of Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Jharkhand are few states that ran out of their doses and have ordered a new batch. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced free vaccination to 2.90 crore people of his state aged between 18 and 45 years.
The Chhattisgarh government has ordered 5millionshots from both vaccine manufacturers. “An orderly manner of vaccine program will be carried out across the state for which the medical staff is being trained,” said the CM. He also stated vaccination to be free of cost.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren criticized the government alleging they hijacked the vaccine manufacturers. Currently, the state presents a huge disparity in its vaccine stocks.
Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh also expressed concern over the shortage of vaccination. As per the records, only 4 lakh citizens could be vaccinated.
The AAP government also declared free vaccination under the upcoming drive, A purchase of 1.34 crore doses has been approved for this purpose. CM Kejriwal slammed the vaccine manufacturers on raising their margins to earn profit.
The UP government and the Shivraj Singh Chouhan led- government have also declared the vaccination free of cost. The former has stocked 50-55 lakh vials while the latter has placed an order of 4.5 lakh vaccine vials.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra declares no notices on the upcoming vaccination drive.
