Mungeli: On the instructions of the Mungeli collector Ajit Vasant, the Agriculture Dept has announced to organize a mela at village level and committee level under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana on the 31st March. The fest is being organized in order to encourage the farmers to produce other crops apart from paddy.
As per the information given by the Director of Agriculture Department, around 20,456 hectares of land in the district has been targeted for harvesting crops other than paddy. farmers are given substantial investment for crop diversification, increase in production and are given relief in the expense of quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, mechanization & new agricultural technology, and in cultivation cost. An input subsidy of Rs. 9000 per acre to the farmers is also given to the farmers.
Similarly in Kharif season 2021, farmers who harvested Kodo, Kutki, Sugarcane, Arhar, Maize, Soyabean, pulses, oilseeds etc were given an appreciation of Rs 10,000 per acre. The financial assistance would be given for three years.
About 70 per cent of the population in Chhattisgarh is dependent on agriculture. Most of the area of the state is rain-fed, due to seasonal adversity and increase in agricultural input cost, there remains uncertainty and indebtedness in agricultural income, as a result, farmers need inputs for crop production like improved seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, mechanization, and new agricultural technology. Not able to invest enough; “Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana” has been implemented by the state government for agricultural input assistance to provide adequate investment in agriculture and relief in cost. Under “Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana”, Kharif season paddy, maize, soybean, groundnut, Til, Arhar, Moong, Urad, Kulthi, Ramtil, Kodo, Kutki, Ragi, and Sugarcane crops have been included in Rabi.
