Chhattisgarh: Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Chhattisgarh has been booked under sedition at 12 pm on Thursday. This development came after ACB raided the ADGs residence at Raipur on 1 July early in the morning and several other locations simultaneously under the ownership of the Senior IPS officer.

In the operation that lasted for around 75 hours, ACB seized filled documents from Singh’s official Bungalow. Additionally, some documents suggesting illegal property possessions abroad have also been recovered. An ACB statement on July 3 said the documents seized during searches at Singh’s premises established he allegedly amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and indulged in a “massive exchange of money”. He is also accused of illegal money laundering by investing in shell companies.

A First Information Report (FIR) against Singh under Indian Penal Code’s Sections 124 A (sedition) and 153 A (hate speech) was registered on ACB and EOW’s complaint at Raipur’s Kotwali police station on Thursday night. It cited the alleged incriminatory documents recovered during the raid.

IPS GP Singh is the First Officer of the Indian Police Service to be booked for sedition in the state.  Singh, a 1994 batch Indian Police Service officer who was earlier posted as ADG in ACB and Economic Offences Wing, has been the director of the state police academy since June last year.
