ACB Raids Senior IPS officer’s Premises in Chhattisgarh; FIR Lodged

Raipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB) on Thursday conducted raid at officer Gurjinder Pal Singh early in the morning in Chhattisgarh capital. The raid continued until Friday accounting for 30 hours of the search operation.

A 1994 batch IPS officer, Singh was earlier posted as additional director general of police the ACB and Economic Offences Wing in the state and was then transferred to state Police Academy at Chandkhuri in Raipur in June last year. He had also served as inspector general of police in the Raipur range and other places in the state.

As per sources nearly, 15 locations in Raipur, Rajnandgaon, Odisha were raided simultaneously by Team so ACB-EOW following intelligence inputs. An ACB official said that the raids were conducted following several complaints against Singh over having disproportionate assets at several places and unaccounted money in banks. 

Singh was interrogated over the manual files and electronic data recovered from his premises. Sources reveal during his term a Chief of Economic Bureau, he captivated the monetary and non-monetary possessions of his subordinates through illegal means. Documents of illegally possessed land and crores of rupees were recovered from the raid. 

After an enquiry late on Thursday night, an FIR has been lodged against officer Gurjinder Pal Singh in case of corruption. So far the ACB has retrieved shreds of evidence of money laundering by investing in illegal assets, large transactions, and shell companies worth crores of rupees.
