Balodabazar: The Excise Department is continuously taking action against illegal liquor sale in the district. In this connection, today on information, the police has arrested the accused Churan Verma. 5088 Puwa non-duty paid Desi liquor masala liquor has been recovered from the possession of the accused.
According to the information received, on the basis of information received from the informer, the room in the storeroom of Churan Verma, son of Bisoha Verma, resident of village Chaurenga, was searched. During the search, 106 boxes (48 in each) totaling 5088 quarters (915.84 bulk liters) of non-duty paid Desi Masala liquor were seized from the room of the accused storeroom. The cost of which has been estimated to be Rs 5,08,800.
Simga Circle Incharge Manrakhan Netam said that the accused Churan Verma, son of Bisoha Verma, was found to have violated Section 34(2), 59(a) and 36 of the Excise Act for illegally storing a large quantity of liquor in the store room. The accused has been booked and duly arrested and sent to judicial custody. This is the fourth action taken this month.
