RAIPUR: Seven including 5 minors have been arrested for tearing a poster of Lord Shiva and burning it by putting it into ‘Holika’ in the Gudhiyari area of Chhattisgarh on Friday.
As per reports, protests erupted in the Gudhiyari regions of Raipur after a group of miscreants ripped down a poster of Lord Shiva. The act captured in the CCTV footage made rounds on social media and prompted the police to immediately take control of the situation.
“On the eve of Holi, unidentified miscreants allegedly tore the poster of Lord Shiva (Hindu deity) and later, threw it into ‘Holika’. In this connection, police have registered a case against unidentified miscreants and launched a manhunt to nab them,” Additional Superintendent of Police (West) D C Patel confirmed.
Security personnel used force to disperse the crowd and control the situation, said an officer.
Further investigation into the act has been initiated.
